INFRASTRUCTURE OVERVIEW
Security Administration
To ensure the secure
operation of the computer systems, servers, and
network connections. This includes checking
server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network
traffic, establishing and updating virus scans, and
troubleshooting. This person will also analyze
and resolve security breaches and vulnerability
issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and conduct
user activity audits where required.
Network Management
To plan, direct, and
coordinate the design, installation, and
connectivity of computer and network systems to
ensure the stable operation of the County's IT
assets. This includes developing, configuring,
maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and
existing network hardware, software, and
communication links. The Infrastructure
Manager will also schedule and direct the activities
of a team of network specialists to resolve end user
hardware and software problems in a timely and
accurate fashion.
Server Administration
To design, install,
administer, and optimize company servers and related
components to achieve high performance of the
business applications supported. This includes
ensuring the availability of client/server
applications, configuring all new implementations,
and developing processes and procedures for ongoing
management of the server environment. Where
applicable, the Server Administrator will assist in
overseeing the physical security, integrity, and
safety of the data center/server farm.
Network Administration
To ensure the stable
operation of the in-house computer network.
This includes planning, developing, installing,
configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing
all network hardware, software, and communication
links. The person will also analyze and
resolve end user hardware and software computer
problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and
provide end user training where required.
Application Support
To deliver support to end
users in the organization on how to use various
types of software programs efficiently and
effectively in fulfilling business objectives.
This includes troubleshooting applications and
software for all internal customers. Also
responsible for assisting in the design, delivery,
and improvement of software applications training
programs and related courseware. Maintains
detailed knowledge of the applications and business
processes.
Desktop Administration
To support and maintain
computer systems, desktops, and peripherals.
This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing,
maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and
equipment while ensuring optimal workstation
performance. The person will also troubleshoot
problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and
provide end user training and assistance where
required.
